Day 4 of NaBloPoMo and I’m already struggling. After our healthy delicious pizza and buffalo chicken dip dinner, I spent a couple hours perusing the web looking for some writing prompts, but couldn’t find anything that I wanted to sit down and write about. Plus, it’s a little distracting watching Monday night football (Bears vs. Packers) with G–his yelling and overly zealous clapping allows little room for concentration on serious writing. So I guess I’ll spend a few minutes writing about that while its all going down now.
The problem with this twice yearly game is my: family=die hard Chicago Bears fans….his family=die hard Green Bay Packers fans. I know, we’re like the Crips and Bloods or Romeo and Juliet when it comes to our football teams. One time, G went to a Bears/Bengals game with me when we lived in Ohio, and he wore a PACKERS shirt. Several people stopped us and said, I sure hope you two aren’t married! {We weren’t at that point!} Even our rehearsal dinner cake for our wedding touted our family’s rivalry:
Sadly, I have to admit I’m not usually a very optimistic fan when it comes to this rivalry. Too many let downs over the years! Plus, the Bears had their back-up quarterback playing tonight since Cutler is hurt. Great. BUT THEN in the first quarter, Aaron Rodgers got hurt, a guy who is 33 and played for Iowa State came in at QB, and I slowly started feeling A LITTLE BIT BETTER about the match up and the Bear’s chance for victory.
We’re down to about 8 minutes left and the Bears are up by 4. I really want to go to bed, so I might just have to find out who comes out on top in the morning. G’s starting to sweat a little in his “Feelin’ So Fly Like A Cheesehead”so that makes me feel a little better. He knows a lot more about football than I do, and he actually pays attention. Hopefully I’ll wake up with bragging rights….until they face each other again in December!
Go Bears!
I’m still awake and the game is over! 27-20 and CHICAGO comes out on top! First time since 2007 the Bears win at Lambeau Field….I can’t believe it!
